Mark Mahorney
After 15 years as a business analyst in the corporate world, Mark left it behind to open a small gallery in Kremmling, Colorado. The shop initially featured Mark's wood sculptures, but -inspired by scorching life-sized bear carvings with a weed burner to achieve a realistic tone - he started dabbling in a new technique: Charring wood panels and using low-relief carving techniques to create stunning imagery.
While the unique pieces sold quickly, and were commissioned frequently, Mark struggled with getting existing galleries to understand the technique and want to represent the art. Frustrated, he decided to start his own gallery.
Lodgepole Gallery features some of Mark's charred art, and also work he's done in other techniques, including pencil drawings, oil and pastels.
